Vodafone and Zinia Launch Flexible Smartphone Financing in Germany

Vodafone and Zinia offer German customers new smartphone payment options, separating device and tariff costs for greater flexibility and transparency.

Vodafone and Zinia, the digital consumer finance platform from the Santander Group, have signed an agreement to provide German customers with greater flexibility in deciding how and when to pay. Starting today, Vodafone customers can choose how to pay for their ideal smartphone. Those purchasing a device online – alongside popular GigaMobil or GigaMobil Young tariffs – can spread payments over 12, 24, or 36 months.

This enables customers to choose whether to upgrade their device after one year or extend payments over a longer period. Additionally, those who opt for these new plans will benefit from discounted mobile tariffs.

Previously, mobile phone financing was only available with 24-month contracts. With this new model, Vodafone Germany is separating device and tariff costs for the first time, offering more transparency and choice depending on how often customers wish to upgrade their devices. The new financing options are part of a framework agreement between Vodafone and Santander Group. The offer is fully integrated into Vodafone’s online store checkout, with the added peace of mind that comes from financing backed by Santander.

Matthias Lorenz, Managing Director for Consumer Business at Vodafone, said:

Our customers now benefit in two ways: they gain the freedom to choose how and when to pay for their ideal smartphone, and they save on their mobile tariff. Whether it’s the smartphone, instalment payments, the tariff, insurance, or trade-in options—our customers get everything they need for their smartphone from a single source. And all of this with our top-tier mobile network.”

Ramón Billordo, Head of Zinia, added:

We continue to grow Zinia, our digital consumer finance platform, through strategic partnerships with leading companies like Vodafone. We’re excited to deepen this collaboration and remain committed to offering flexible financing options backed by the security and experience of a leading financial group like Santander.”

Tariff savings for Vodafone customers

The discount amount varies depending on the selected smartphone and tariff. For example, with the GigaMobil M tariff, customers save €90 during the minimum contract period when financing the new iPhone 16e entry-level model over 12 months. Customers on the GigaMobil XL tariff save €180 when financing the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra flagship model over 36 months, thanks to the mobile tariff discount.

In addition to smartphones, financing plans and mobile services, Vodafone also offers customers the option to easily and securely sell their old devices, with a bonus for device trade-in. Contract customers can also take out insurance covering screen repairs, theft, and water damage.
